Hamill wins Ultimate Fighting bout
BROOMFIELD, Colo. —
Matt Hamill, a Schuyler resident fighting out of Utica, defeated Tim Boetsch in an Ultimate Fighting Championship match on Wednesday.
Hamill scored a technical knockout 1:25 into the second round as part of Ultimate Fight Night 13 on Spike TV.
The first round was close and Hamill’s bottom lip was split open by a Boetsch Knee to the face. In the second round, Boetsch tried to take Hamill down, but the three-time Division III wrestling champion gained the advantage. Positioned on top, Hamill continued to pound away at Boetsch’s head until the referee stepped in and stopped the fight.
Hamill improved his record to 6-1.
